Matt Robidoux Western Ma

(b.New Hampshire,1985) is a Western Massachusetts based composer, guitarist, sound artist, music therapist, film maker and nonprofit concert promoter interested in exploring the relationships of performer, environment, and experiencer; public/collective based art above individual ownership; sensory association, cognitive and incidental; musical processes and empowerment of differently abled people; performing in unconventional spaces and settings; re appropriation and transcription of popular musics.  He holds a B.A. in Music (Keene State College/Franklin Pierce University) where he studied classical guitar with Jose Lezcano and Scott Sanchez, improvisation with Scott Mullett and (post undergraduate) harmonic theory with Chris Weisman. As composer and improviser, Robidoux’s work covers aesthetic ground from song and improvisation based textural/melodic guitar work to sound collage and performance art, rooted in the ethos and presentation of DIY/underground music. Current touring and recording collaborations include solo (Feeding Tube Records),  Sunburned Hand of the Man (Three Lobed Recordings), Banjo Assault (Kendra Steiner Editions, New Edition Publications), Vindas Film Group (16MM film/performance duo) and 23 Ensemble. Previous units include Curse Purse (Feeding Tube, Körper / Leib) and Speedy Ortiz (Carpark Records). He has performed throughout North America and Europe and heads the label Hidden Temple Tapes.
